Fiscal Note
The 2005 Public Health Operating Budget will be amended to reflect additional revenues and expenses. There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.

Authorizing the Madison Department of Public Health to accept a grant in the amount of $1200 from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services Division of Public Health for a Rapid HIV Test study for the contract period October 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the contract for the City.
Body
WHEREAS, HIV infection remains a significant public health risk to the population and early identification of infection, access to medical care and social support have been shown to improve long term outcomes and reduce transmission of HIV; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Department of Public Health has long been involved with community partners in HIV and sexually transmitted disease prevention and control activities, and;
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services Division of Public Health has provided funding to the Madison Department of Public Health to participate in an evaluation of an oral Rapid HIV Test;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Department of Public Health is authorized to accept a grant in the amount of up to $1200 for HIV prevention activities for the period October 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign contracts for the City.
