The 2006 Operating Budget includes $40,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for Emerging Neighborhoods to create a Transit for Jobs program. There is no effect on the levy.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a Purchase of Service agreement with Porchlight, Inc. to manage a Transit For Jobs program utilizing Emerging Neighborhoods Funds as identified in the 2006 adopted Operating Budget.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget provides $125,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods fund; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted operating budget appropriated $40,000 of the Emerging Neighborhoods fund to create a "Transit for Jobs" program which will link specific transit assistance of single ride, 10 ride and 31 day Metro passes to low-income, transit dependent individuals who are working with the Job Center, homeless shelter, transitional housing providers, job development and training agencies, or neighborhood-based support agencies which have significant focus on job-seeking and referral services; and

WHEREAS, a Request For Proposals from not-for-profit agencies was developed and released to seek a provider to manage a community-based "Transit for Jobs" program; and

WHEREAS, on January 30, 2006 two responses were received in response to RFP No. 7784-0-2006/MM; and

WHEREAS, on January 31, 2006 a subcommittee of the Community Services Commission met to review, discuss and select a provider for the "Transit for Jobs" program.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Community Services Commission subcommittee on the "Transit for Jobs" program recommends the City enter into a contract with Porchlight, Inc. to manage a community-based "Transit for Jobs" program for the period covering March 1, 2006 through February 28, 2007; and
