The proposed resolution amends the 2023 Adopted Operating Budget for the Community Development Division (CDD) to receive and expend a $10,000 grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for a Senior Center Vaccine Initiative. The proposed resolution further authorizes the execution of a contract with NCOA to implement the Initiative. No additional City appropriation required.

BACKGROUND:
In July 2023, the City of Madison joined a cohort of senior centers through the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to support the COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccine Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to ensure older adults and people with disabilities get the latest COVID and flu vaccines by providing credible information, helping with vaccination appointments and access, and hosting vaccination clinics. The City of Madison was awarded grant funding of $10,000 to support the administration of 100 or more COVID and flu vaccinations through April 30, 2024.
ACTION
WHEREAS, the Community Development Division, in consultation with the Committee on Aging, is responsible for formulating recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council regarding the use of City administered resources budgeted for ensuring the quality and availability of older adult services in Madison; and,
WHEREAS, CDD has applied for and been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA), to implement a Senior Center Vaccine Initiative; and,
WHEREAS, the direct provision of services to older adults, including providing outreach, hosting vaccine clinics, and offering services many older adults need to get vaccinated, plays an important role in helping many Madison residents age successfully; and,
