DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: The State of Wisconsin recodified former Wis. Stat. ch. 166 as new Wis. Stat. ch. 323, Emergency Management. This ordinance updates the statutory references and adds the definition of disaster to be in compliance with state law.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
1. Subdivision (b) of Subsection (1) entitled “Policy and Purpose” of Section 3.20 entitled “Emergency Management” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(b) It is further declared to be the purpose of this ordinance and the policy of the City that all emergency management functions of the City shall be carried out pursuant to this ordinance and the emergency management plan developed hereunder, as part of a county-wide emergency management program to the maximum extent practica...
