In 2024, Dane County Board of Supervisors approved the use of $100,000 from funds received through opioid settlements for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive feasibility study on establishing an Overdose Prevention Center (OPC) in Dane County, Wisconsin. In response to this approval, Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) valued at $100,000, aimed at identifying a qualified consultant or consulting firm. This firm will be tasked with undertaking a thorough analysis to evaluate the feasibility of establishing an OPC in the area.
PHMDC’s Substance Use Prevention & Harm Reduction team developed scoring criteria aligned with the priorities of completing the approved assessment. Reviewers, including PHMDC staff, as well as staff from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Journey Mental Health Center, scored each application. The review panel discussed scores and recommended that the following agency be selected to contract at the following amount:
Arielle Edelman McHenry LLC: $100,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to accept and distribute the funding in the amount of $100,000, and sign the related contract with Arielle Edelman McHenry LLC.
