Fiscal Note
These grants will be accounted for in a segregated fund (SG59). Matching funds of about $3,440 are included in the Police Department's operating budget and will pay the fringe benefit costs (FICA and WI Retirement Fund) associated with the overtime funded by the grant.

Body
WHEREAS, the Dane County Sheriff's Office has received funds from the WI DOT-Bureau of Transportation Safety to partner with various police agencies to enforce traffic violations; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Dane County Sheriff's Office has offered the Madison Police Department a total of  $12,500 specifically to contribute to decreasing the number of deaths and/or injuries due to crashes; and,
 
WHEREAS, these funds will enable the Police Department's Traffic and Support Section to coordinate additional traffic enforcement activities that would otherwise not be provided.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Chief of Police are authorized to accept traffic safety funds totaling $12,500 from the Dane County Sheriff's Office. (SG59-51300-712100-83-;  SG59-73350-712100-00-)
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these funds be used for additional overtime for enforcement activities.
 
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Comptroller and the Police Department are authorized to establish and/or maintain accounts as required for the administration of the grant funds.
