The 2005 Public Health Operating Budget will be amended to reflect additional revenues and expenses. There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy. Account string 446400-00-442000.
Title
Authorizing the Madison Department of Public Health to accept up to $100,000 from the Dane County Division of Public Health for the period January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 for public health emergency planning related to bio-terrorism or other infectious disease outbreaks, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign for the City.
Body
WHEREAS, the federal government has provided funding through the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services for local governments to form regional consortia to respond to terrorist attacks, infectious disease outbreaks, and other public health threats; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has agreed to participate in the Region 10 Public Health Consortium with the cities of Beloit and Watertown, and the counties of Dane, Dodge, Green, Jefferson and Rock to develop collaborative strategies in response to bioterrorism and other public health threats; and
WHEREAS, the Region 10 Public Health Consortium has provided funds to Local Health Departments in support of the Consortium's 2005 workplan with the State;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council authorizes the Madison Department of Public Health to accept up to $100,000 from the Dane County Division of Public Health, fiscal agent for the Region 10 Public Health Consortium, and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign a contract on behalf of the City.
