Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the appointment of Charles J. Romines as Director of Public Works for a 5-year term, effective September 8, 2026. This position was created via Legistar File 92726 (ORD-26-00026). As stated in the draft Employment Agreement between the City of Madison and Charles J. Romines, the Director's salary will be based on an annualized rate of $208,600. The new compensation rate will cost approximately $1,600 in 2026. The cost will be absorbed within the Public Works agencies 2026 adopted budgets. The annual cost is approximately $5,700. No additional appropriation is required with approval of this appointment.

WHEREAS, the Mayor has appointed Charles J. Romines to the position of Director of Public Works has recommended to the Common Council that their appointment be confirmed; and,
WHEREAS, the parties have reached an accord on the terms and conditions of an Employment Agreement between the City and Charles J. Romines;
NOW THEREFORE, be resolved that Charles J. Romines’s appointment to the position of Director of Public Works is hereby confirmed, and the Mayor and the City Clerk’s Office are authorized to execute an Employment Agreement between the City and Charles J. Romines.
