Amending Sections 28.10(4)(b) and (d) of the Madison General Ordinances to add outside production and processing of woodchips as a conditional use in the M1 District.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This amendment makes production and processing of wood chips a conditional use in the M1 District.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

1.      Paragraph 1. of Subdivision (b) entitled "Conditional Uses" of Subsection (4) entitled "M1 Limited Manufacturing District" of Section 28.10 entitled "Manufacturing Districts" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

1.      All business, servicing or processing shall be conducted within completely enclosed buildings unless otherwise indicated hereinafter, except for the following:

a.      Off-street parking and off-street loading;

b.      Display of merchandise for sale to the public;

c.      Establishments of the drive-in type;

d.      Outdoor eating areas of restaurants and taverns; and

e.      Outdoor recreation areas of restaurants and taverns.

f.      Farmers markets.

g.      Cemeteries.

h.      Production and processing of wood chips.  

2.      Paragraph  31. of Subdivision (d) entitled "Conditional Uses" of Subsection (4) entitled "M1 Limited Manufacturing District " of Section 28.10 entitled "Manufacturing Districts" of the Madison General Ordinances is created to read as follows:

"31.      Production and processing of wood chips."
