Report of the CCOC - Recommendations Requested by Adopted Resolution, Legislative File No. 06305 Relative To Water Utility Appointments and Reports.
Body
The Common Council adopted Legislative File No. 06305 on May 15, 2007 that requested the Common Council Organizational Committee make recommendations regarding increasing the size of the Water Utility Board (Board of Water Commissioners) and receiving regular reports regarding the Water Utility.
The members of the Common Council Organizational Committee made the following recommendations:
Amending MGO Sec. 13.01 to increase the Water Utility Board membership to 7 Commissioners, including an additional Alderperson

CCOC recommended that the size of the Board of Water Commissioners be increased to seven (7) voting members and that one of the two (2) new members could be an additional alderperson. Also approved was a friendly amendment that the term limits be limited up to five (5) years.
Amending MGO Sec. 13.03 to include various reporting requirements to the Common Council and recommending a list of topics and a procedure for regular reports to the Common Council
(CCOC meeting of July 3, 2007)
CCOC recommended the following reports from the Water Utility:
1. Continue to copy the email group: ALL ALDERS on all the Board of Water Commissioners agendas and attachments.
2. Encourage Water Utility staff to work towards developing a way of reporting complaints/calls received that resembles reports created by Building Inspection (a brief summary of inspection contacts) which would be specific to each district:
a) By address
b) General category/event (e.g. BI - snow removal, trash)
c) Who is making complaints (alders may want to follow-up with a particular complainant)
CCOC members requested that Water Utility staff develop a draft report using the criteria above and bring it back to the CCOC for feedback. (...
