Title
Approving a contract for legal research services from Thomson-West to the Office of the City Attorney.
Body
WHEREAS, the Office of the City Attorney (OCA) has an existing contract with Thomson-West for the provision of computerized legal research capabilities; and
WHEREAS, the existing contract expires on December 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has negotiated a new contract with Thomson-West to provide for such capabilities for a 3 year term at fixed rates with a 3% annual increase; and
WHEREAS, the provision of such services are essential to the operation of the OCA and the legal services to be provided to the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, the costs under the prior agreement were approximately $20,000 per year and the new contract will be at the initial cost of approximately $25,000 per year, which amount is included in the budget submitted by the OCA for 2006;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the new agreement with Thomson-West for computerized legal research services is approved, in such form as is agreed to by the City Attorney; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Attorney is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of the City of Madison.
