Authorizing Arts Administrator to enter into an Agreement for the Assignment of Rights with Jill Sebastian
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison is engaged in the renovation of the 700 & 800 blocks of State Street and Library Mall, and
WHEREAS, Jill Sebastian is an artist who is creating "Philosopher's Stones," sculptures to be placed on or near State Street, as part of the renovation, and
WHEREAS, each sculpture contains an excerpt from the works of an author, selected by the artist, which have been approved by the City, and
WHEREAS, Ms Sebastian has obtained all rights from the authors of the excerpts, or their representatives, as are necessary to allow the excerpts to be incorporated into her artwork.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Arts Program Administer is authorized to enter into an Agreement for the Assignment of Rights with the artist, Jill Sebastian, in a form approved by the City Attorney, and which grants the City the right to use the excerpts for this public art project.
