Fiscal Note
Funds are available in the Housing Operations 2007 Adopted Operating Budget
for the 2007 settlement items.  Funds will be provided in the Housing
Operations 2008 Executive Operating Budget for the 2008 settlement items.
Title
Approving the settlement of all issues arising out of an arbitration between the City of Madison and the Building and Construction Trades Council of South Central Wisconsin.
Body
WHEREAS the parties have entered into a settlement agreement resolving all issues arising out of the described arbitration, seeking approval thereof at the meeting of October 16, 2007, and
 
WHEREAS the agreement provides for the maintenance of the existing painter position in the Housing Operations Unit of the Planning and Development Department until such time as the current employee retires or leaves City employment and a payment of $2,700 to the Council for dues, which funds are available in the Unit's 2007 budget, and
 
WHEREAS the agreement further provides for the creation of one additional painter position for at least one year with possible extension at the City's sole discretion in the Unit's 2008 budget, which position is contained in the Executive Budget for the Unit and which is hereby authorized, and
 
WHEREAS the agreement further provides for the hiring of one hourly painter for the Unit from October 1, 2007 through December 21, 2007, 40 hours per week without benefits for which funds are available in the Unit's 2007 budget,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council approve the settlement agreement in all respects.
