Title
Adopting the Alliant Energy Center Campus Master Plan
Body
WHEREAS the City of Madison Comprehensive Plan’s Generalized Future Land Use Map recommends Special Institutional uses for the Alliant Energy Center; and,
WHEREAS the Generalized Future Land Use Map notes that the Alliant Energy Center may include restaurant, entertainment, hotel, and other uses if a Master Plan for the area that includes those uses is adopted by the City; and,
WHEREAS The Dane County Board of Supervisors adopted an initial version of the Alliant Energy Center Campus Master Plan on December 20, 2018, after a 9-month planning process; and,
WHEREAS the South Madison Plan, adopted by the Madison Common Council on January 4, 2022, excluded the Alliant Energy Center from the study area because Dane County had recently engaged in a public planning effort for the area and the County's Alliant Energy Center Master Plan was included as reference only; and,
WHEREAS the Alliant Energy Center Redevelopment Committee, Dane County staff, and Alliant Energy Center staff have engaged the public in public meetings to obtain input to direct the development of the Master Plan; and,
WHEREAS on July 20, 2026 the Alliant Energy Center Redevelopment Committee approved a revised version of the Master Plan; and,
WHEREAS Dane County and the Alliant Energy Center have submitted the revised version of the Master Plan dated September 3, 2026 for City of Madison review and adoption.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Alliant Energy Center Master Plan is hereby adopted to satisfy the Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map note; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Master Plan will guide Dane County, the Alliant Energy Center, and other private investment and redevelopment on the Campus and inform city review of zoning and development proposals and future public infrastructure linkages.
