Fiscal Note
In the adopted 2016 capital budget Engineering - Major Streets has budgeted $5.96 million for the resurfacing of existing streets to extend the roadways useful lives (MUNIS10540). The minor project for Walter Street and Sargent Street is established with sufficient budget authority for the additional sanitary sewer work in this proposed resolution (MUNIS 10896). Funding will be provided by special assessment and Sewer Utility reserves.
The proposed resolution approves plan documents at a total estimated cost of $367,713 of which $58,761 will be funded by special assessments and $308,952 funded by Sewer Utility reserves.

Approving Revised Plans, Specifications, and Revised Schedule of Assessments for Walter Street and Sargent Street Assessment District - 2016 (Revised)

The Board of Public Works and the City Engineer having made reports of all proceedings in relation to the improvement of Walter Street and Sargent Street Assessment District - 2016 (Revised) pursuant to a resolution of the Common Council, ID No. 40167, adopted 10/20/2015, which resolution was adopted thereto, and the provisions of the Madison General Ordinances and the Wisconsin Statutes in such case made and provided, and the Common Council being fully advised. This resolution approves additional sanitary sewer work on Walters Street between Dawes Street and Richards Street.
BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That the City at large is justly chargeable with and shall pay the sum of $367,713 of the entire cost of said improvement.
2. That for those eligible property owners requesting construction of a rain garden in the public right-of-way adjacent to their property shall execute the necessary waiver of special assessments on forms provided by the City Engineer;
3. That the sum assigned to each separate parcel, as indicated on the attached schedule of assessment, is hereby specially assessed upon each such parcel.
