Commending, honoring and expressing appreciation to Thomas C. Aldrich upon his retirement from the City of Madison after more than 40 years of exemplary service to the City of Madison and its citizens.
Body
WHEREAS, Thomas C. Aldrich is retiring from the City of Madison, Information Services Department, on January 5, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Tom has served the City as an outstanding civil servant for the past 40 years since joining the City of Madison in 1965 as a Draftsman I in the Department of Public Works; then joined the Data Processing Department in 1978, and was promoted through as a Programmer III to a Systems Analyst IV and, finally, as a Management Information Specialist IV in 1994; and
WHEREAS, during his 40 years with the City, Tom has been instrumental as the City went through various computer technology quantum leaps; including, media changes from cards to tape to disk, batch to online processing, mainframes to client server, and E-Government with the City's Internet presence; and
WHEREAS, Tom has always displayed pride in working for the City and providing quality customer service to fellow employees as well as citizens; and
WHEREAS, the employees of Information Services are saddened to see the departure of their motorcycle-riding colleague, who's dependability, reliability, consistency, and able advice on fixing everything from computer programs to washing machines will be deeply missed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby commend, honor and express gratitude and appreciation to Thomas C. Aldrich for his outstanding service to the City of Madison; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution become part of the permanent official proceedings of the Common Council of the City of Madison; and
