Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Dane County to accept a Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Grant being administered by Dane County. The total security upgrade initiative for the Madison Water Utility is $485,000. The Water Utility is responsible for $97,000 (20%) and the grant will assume up to $388,000 (80%) of the project.

WHEREAS, Dane County on behalf of the Madison Water Utility has applied for and received a Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Grant for a security upgrade initiative to include door access systems and video surveillance equipment, and;
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for the security upgrade initiative for the Madison Water Utility is $485,000 of which the Water Utility is responsible for $97,000 (20%) and the grant will assume up to $388,000 (80%); and
WHEREAS, the project must be completed by October 31, 2007 and the grant closed no later than December 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS Madison Water Utility is committed to system security; and
WHEREAS Madison Water Utility has budgeted funds in their 2007 Capital Budget.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Dane County to accept a Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Grant being administered by Dane County.
