Preamble
Resolution RES-05-00741 approving plans and specs and authorizing execution of the agreement with the WDOT was passed on 9/20/05. Since that time, some changes were made to the plans which affect the fiscal note, and the contract cannot be signed. This resolution presents a fiscal note that is more accurate and will allow for the contract to be signed and the agreement with the WDOT to be executed. The total city cost for the agreement will be $698,800.
The City of Madison will furnish and install various traffic signal and lighting materials under an agreement with the WDOT. The agreement requires that the City indemnify WDOT. City APM 1-1 requires Common Council approval whenever the City indemnifies another party and the funding by WDOT for these installations carries low risk and benefits the general public.
Therefore be it resolved that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute an agreement with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation for cost sharing for the construction of the Park Street Reconstruction - 2006.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract for construction by City forces with WDOT for supplying and installing various traffic signal and lighting materials and that the Common Council approves indemnification of WDOT under this contract.
