This resolution authorizes a double-fill for six weeks at a cost of $8,249 five weeks. Funding in the amount of $6,873 will be appropriated from the Contingent Reserve. The current balance of the Contingent Reserve is $774,913. for the five weeks in 2006. The 2007 Executive Operating Budget does not include funding specifically for the sixth week of this double-fill (estimated to cost $1,376). Funding will be requested in late 2007 if it is determined that the Police Department is unable to absorb this cost.

Body
WHEREAS, the Police Department currently utilizes a Police Info Systems Coordinator 2 position to perform critical technology work to implement and maintain the police records system, in-car video, field reporting, and various other police-related technology systems; and,

WHEREAS, the incumbent Police information Systems Coordinator 2, Carlo Esqueda, will be resigning in January, 2007 is planning to resign effective December 31, 2006; and,

WHEREAS, no other police personnel have the training and/or capability to either maintain these systems or train personnel in these functions; and,

WHEREAS, the incumbent Police Information Systems Coordinator 2 is to be paid through January 5, 2007 December 31, 2006; and,

WHEREAS, the Police Department would like to hire a new Police Information Systems Coordinator 2 effective November 27, 2006, in order to facilitate an orderly transition of information and responsibility; and,

WHEREAS, the Police Department anticipates cost overruns in 2006, and therefore does not have funding available to hire this position; and,
