Fiscal Note

The proposed grant provides for $52,800 in 2006 funding and $54,400 in 2007 funding.  The grant revenues and required City matching funds of $26,800 in the form of staff salaries are/will be included in the 2006 and 2007 Traffic Engineering Operating budgets.  No impact on cost controls.

Body

WHEREAS the Madison Traffic Engineering Division recognizes an increased need to educate children and adults in traffic safety; and

 

WHEREAS the pedestrian/bicycle safety section within the Traffic Engineering Division administers this type of program for the City of Madison; and

 

WHEREAS the Wisconsin Department of Transportation anticipates Federal funds in the amount of $107,200 designated for the City of Madison for the purpose of safety education for children for 2006 and 2007.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the Traffic Engineering Division of the City of Madison Transportation Department be authorized to apply for and accept $107,200 from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a bicycle safety education program and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign the contract.
