Title
Authorizing the City Engineer to apply for a grant from the Wisconsin Waterways Commission for dredging a channel for recreational boating for the Spring Harbor Dredging Project, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter an agreement to accept and use grant funds towards and part of the Spring Harbor Dredging Project.
 
Body
Whereas the City of Madison hereby requests financial assistance for the purpose of dredging a channel for recreational boating at Spring Harbor;
 
Therefore, be it resolved that the City of Madison Engineering Division has budgeted a sum sufficient to complete the project; and
 
And, Be it Further Resolved that Robert Phillips, City Engineer, is authorized to act on behalf of the City of Madison to:
 
Submit an application to the Wisconsin Waterways Commission for financial assistance;
Sign documents; and take necessary action to undertake, direct, and complete the approved project;
 
And, Be it Further Resolved that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter an agreement with the Wisconsin Waterways Commission and/or the Department of Natural Resources to accept and use grant funds towards the Spring Harbor Dredging Project,
 
And Be it Finally resolved that the City of Madison will comply with state and federal rules for the programs; may perform force account work; will maintain the completed project in an attractive, inviting and safe manner; will keep the facilities open to the public during reasonable hours consistent with the type of facility; and will obtain permission in writing from the Wisconsin Waterways Commission before any change is made in the use of the project site.
 
 
 
 
Fiscal Note
Budget authority is available in Acct No ESTM 58290 810673 00 53W1264  "Stormwater-Dredging  Shoreline Stab/Dredging"; to cover the City-matched funds required for this grant opportunity.  Current total estimated costs for the project are approximately $173,230 which would yield a City share of approximately $86,615.
