AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS FROM THE ROOTS AND WINGS FOUNDATION, INC. TO SUPPORT MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH POPULATION FROM PREGNANCY THROUGH AGE FOUR

Public Health Madison and Dane County (Public Health) proposes the acceptance of an addendum to our existing grant from The Roots and Wings Foundation, Inc. (Roots and Wings) to add additional funds for 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Roots and Wings is a nonprofit private foundation which supports organizations in Wisconsin, as well as some others across the nation, in the areas of early childhood, basic needs, healthcare and human rights.
The Board of Health previously authorized Public Health to accept grant funding from the Roots and Wings Foundation in the amount of $100,700 for 2022 and $250,000 annually for two consecutive years (2023, 2024) to support the Maternal and Child Health Population from Pregnancy through age four via Resolution #2022-31.
Roots and Wings has awarded Public Health additional grant funding to support the Maternal and Child Health population from pregnancy through age four in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Specific Public Health programs that will utilize these funds include all Maternal and Child Health services, Nurse Family Partnership, WIC (Women Infant Children), Fetal Infant Mortality Review and Doula services. The expanded grant funding includes $300,000 for 2025, $325,000 for 2026, and $350,000 for 2027.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the director of Public Health to accept and spend the additional grant funding in the amount of $300,000 for 2025, $325,000 for 2026, and $350,000 for 2027 from the Roots and Wings Foundation and sign the related agreement(s) to support the Maternal and Child Health Population from Pregnancy through age four.
