Title

Amending Section 33.09(2)(d) of the Madison General Ordinances to eliminate the requirement that the alderperson who serves on the Henry Vilas Zoo Commission must be from the district in which the zoo is located.

Body

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  The current ordinance requires that the Mayoral appointment to the City-County Zoo Commission be the Alder in whose district the Zoo is located.  This eliminates the requirement so that any Alder is eligible to be appointed by the Mayor.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

Subdivision (d) entitled "City and County Elected Official Representation" of Subsection (2) entitled "Henry Vilas Zoo Commission" of Section 33.09 entitled "City County Commissions" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

"(d)      City and County Elected Official Representation. The Mayor shall designate one of the City terms to be held by a City alderperson in whose District the zoo is located and the County Executive shall designate one of the County terms to be held by a County Board Supervisor. The term of a member whose appointment depends on his or her status as an alderperson or a Supervisor shall terminate as of the end of the member's elective term unless he or she is re-elected."
