I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen committee appointments. "Statement of Interests" forms are on file for those appointees required to file.
NORTHPORT-WARNER PARK-SHERMAN NEIGHBORHOOD STEERING COMMITTEE
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "
provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgment of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience
."
Berkley Oaks & Mobile Home Park & Whitetail Ridge neighborhood representatives:
LYDIA S. MAURER, 1913 Shelley La., 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Maurer is self employed as a family child care provider. She serves as vice president of the Berkley Oaks Neighborhood Association. She will serve as a regular member.
JODI L. HANNA, 4417 N. Sherman Ave., 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Hanna is an attorney employed by Disability Rights Wisconsin. She is a homeowner in the neighborhood and will serve as the alternate.
Northport & Packers, East Bluff & Woodlands neighborhood representatives:
PAT STEELE, 1714 Northport Dr. #3, 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Steele is program coordinator for the Northport Community Learning Center. She is a long-time resident of the north side and is a member of the Northside Planning Council. She will serve as a regular member.
NICOLE J. MORIARITY, 501 East Bluff, 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Moriarity is employed by Dane County as an economic support trainer. She is a life-long resident of the northeast side and is active in the Northside Planning Council and the East Bluff Homeowners Association. She will serve as an alternate.
Lake View Hill & Kennedy Heights neighborhood representatives:
BENJAMIN C. CASHIN, 905 Havey Rd., 53704 (18th A.D.) - Mr. Cashin is a structural designer (engineer-in-training) for Pierce Engineers, Inc. He is a member of the MATC Architectural Technician Program Advisory Board. He will serve as a regular member.
OLGA CARDENAS, 1630 Sunfield St., 53704 (18th A.D.) - Ms. Cardenas works on the assembly line at Springs. She is a long-time resident of the north side and she participated in the 1992 Northport-Warner Park Neighborhood Plan. She will serve as a regular member.
LORIE WALKER, 1529 Lake View Ave., 53704 (18th A.D.) - Ms. Walker is a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the State Department of Workforce Development. She will serve as an alternate.
Troy Gardens, Nobel Park & Vera Court neighborhood representative:
PACIA J. HARPER, 528 Troy Dr., 53704 (18th A.D.) - Ms. Harper is a full-time parent and is a member of the Troy Gardens Condo Association. She will serve as an alternate.
The regular member position name will be submitted at a future Council meeting.
Brentwood Village & Sheridan Triangle & Sherman & Maple Wood, Mendota Hills neighborhood representatives:
MADELINE SCHERB, 1705 Melrose St., 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Scherb is a self-employed writer. She is a Madison native and homeowner in the neighborhood. She serves as a neighborhood representative at city planning meetings for Rhythm and Booms. She will serve as a regular member.
JOLENA K. PRESTI, 1506 Pleasure Dr., 53704 (12th A.D.) - Ms. Presti is employed by Vandewalle & Associates as an associate urban planner. She is a member of the Brentwood Village Board. She will serve as an alternate member.
Lerdahl & North Lake Mendota neighborhood representatives:
DIANE L. JETZER, 129 Knutson Dr., 53704-1191 (18th A.D.) - Ms. Jetzer is regional campus manager for Madison Area Technical College. She is a north side resident and currently serves as the vice president of the North Lake Mendota Neighborhood Association. She will serve as a regular member.
MARY A. SCHUMACHER, 517 Nova Way, 53704 (18th A.D.) - Ms. Schumacher is owner of Solaris Research Services, LLC. She has been an area resident for 8 years and has participated in the Eken Park planning process. She is a business beat reporter for the Northside News.
Business representatives:
*KAREN M. THOMPSON, 209 Beech Rd., Waterloo, WI 53594 - Ms. Thompson is employed by Anchor Bank as an assistant vice president-branch manager. She has worked on the north side since 1983. She is a member of the Northside Planning Council and is a member of the Northside Business Association Board. She will serve as a regular member.
Rationale: The Northside Business Association requested Karen Thompson be their representative on the steering committee. Ms. Thompson was involved in the previous planning process and has been an active business leader within the planning study area.
DONALD B. BRUNS, 220 Vista Rd., 53726 (10th A.D.) - Mr. Bruns is co-owner/manager of Sherman Plaza, Inc. and owner of Bruns Law Office. Mr. Bruns is also involved with the Northside Farmers Market. He will serve as a regular member.
At-large members:
THOMAS C. BLAKE, 1902 Londonderry Dr. #315, 53704-3073 (12th A.D.) - Mr. Blake is self-employed in web/graphic design. He has experience in capital development projects as project manager and contract administrator. He is active in the Sherman Avenue United Methodist Church. He will serve as a regular member.
*STEVEN B. OLSON, 206 New Castle Way, Maple Bluff, 53704-6067 - Mr. Olson is a service executive for AT&T. She is a resident of the north side for 13 years. He is a founding member of the Whole Northside Block Party. He will serve as an alternate member.
Rationale: The planning area abutts the village of Maple Bluff. As a resident of the village of Maple Bluff, he will provide input into issues from this area.
