Body

I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."

 

 

DISABILITY RIGHTS COMMISSION

 

LARRY D. LOVE (14th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Lisa A. Jameson. Larry Love is a principal at Badger Ridge Middle School. He has a Ph.D. in special education and has served as a supervisor of school-based special education programs. He has volunteered as both a parent advocate and youth mentor.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2025

 

CASEY T. EDMONDS-ESTES (6th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Jane Nemke. Casey Edmonds-Estes is a software developer for Epic Systems. He has experience in accessible design, working on technology to help those with sensory disabilities.

LYNN A. OLSON (12th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Barbara Vedder. Lynn Olson is an artist and seasonal gardener. She has held numerous roles over the years, most recently as an operations specialist at River Food Pantry. She has experience serving on committees, working collaboratively to bring about positive outcomes.

MADISON DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

*REBECCA PROCHASKA, Mazomanie - appoint to the remainder of a two-year term to the position of Business/Financial Representative succeeding Anne L.N. Morrison.

TERM EXPIRES: 6-4-2025

 

Rationale: Rebecca Prochaska is the president and CEO of Potter Lawson, Inc. - a women-owned firm and the oldest architecture firm in Madison. Potter Lawson has worked on numerous affordable housing projects and are a leader in sustainable design. Projects in Madison include partnering on the Triangle redevelopment, Ella Apartments and multiple buildings in Research Park. Clients include Exact Sciences, American Family and WHEDA. Potter Lawson has also designed several non-profit headquarters in Madison, including United Way of Dane County and Madison Area Rehabilitation Center (MARC).

Rebecca Prochaska serves on the board of the YMCA of Dane County and previously served on the Madison Public Market Foundation.

 

 

VENDING OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

 

ASHLEIGH M. HACKER (17th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Resident member. Ashleigh Hacker currently holds the Alternate member position which was recently eliminated. She has served since 11-1-2022.

TERM EXPIRES: 6-1-2026
