I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments.  "Statement of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those citizens required to file.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION COMMISSION

 

JOSEPH R. CLAUSIUS, 18 Clarendon Ct., 53704 (17th A.D.) - reappoint to a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  First Appointed 4-18-1995.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-15-2008.

TRACEY A. CARADINE, 1029 Melvin Ct., 53704-4319 (15th A.D.) - move from the position of First Alternate and appoint to a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  She succeeds Malika Monger who resigned.  Ms. Caradine was first appointed 1-4-2005.

ALLIED AREA TASK FORCE

 

*LINDSAY A. MCCLERNAN, 5146 Anton Dr. #217, Fitchburg, 53719 - reinstate to the position of Allied Area Community Group Representative.  (Ms. McClernan's appointment was revoked on 2-21-06 because a "Statement of Interests" form was not filed. She filed the statement on 4-12-06.)  First Appointed 3-29-2005.

 

Rationale:  Ms. McClernan is a family support specialist with the Dane County Parent Council.  She has been actively involved in the neighborhood for several years and is very passionate about the community.

 

DISABILITIES, COMMISSION ON PEOPLE WITH

 

NANCY R. KATHMAN, 406 Clemons Ave., 53704 (6th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  First Appointed 8-18-1998.

DOWNTOWN COORDINATING COMMITTEE

 

MARY C. CARBINE, 3122 Hermina St., 53714 (15th A.D.) - appoint to an unlimited term to the position of Alternate Member.  Ms. Carbine succeeds Kris Grutzner as the Executive Director of the Madison's Central Business Improvement District (BID).

 

EAST WASHINGTON/CAPITOL GATEWAY BUILD STEERING COMMITTEE

 

*WILLIAM J. KUNKLER, 6827 Phil Lewis Way, Middleton, 53562 - reinstate to the position of Major Private Property Owner.  (Mr. Kunkler's appointment was revoked on on 2-21-06 because a "Statement of Interests" form was not filed. He filed the statement on 3-31-2006.)  First Appointed 11-9-2004.

Rationale:  Mr. Kunkler is a major property owner in the city of Madison.

 

JOINT WEST CAMPUS AREA COMMITTEE

UW-Madison Chancellor appointment:

 

DAWN CRIM, Assistant to the Director for Community Relations, UW-Madison - appoint to an unlimited term to the position of UW-Chancellor Special Assistant.  Ms. Crim succeeds LaMarr Billups.

 

LANDMARKS COMMISSION

 

ERICA F. GEHRIG, 1811 Vilas Ave., 53711 (13th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Ms. Gehrig has been on the board of the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, and she has an MS in Historic Preservation from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.  She succeeds Patricia Crocker who does not wish to be reappointed.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2009.

SMITH, 104 Ash St., 53726 (5th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Alternate.  Ms. Smith is an administrator in the Division of Enforcement and Science for the State Department of Natural Resources.  She currently serves as a board member of the Wisconsin Laboratory of Hygiene.  She succeeds Adam Lichtenheld who was moved/appointed to an Adult City Resident position.
