Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution funds signage replacement costs incurred by the City of Madison to change the name of "Cherokee Club Lane" to "Players Drive" at the location of the street lying between Perfect Drive and N. Sherman Ave. The expected cost of the name change signage is $350. Costs will be invoiced and reimbursed by TPC Wisconsin. No additional appropriation is required.

Sherman Avenue.  (District 18)

Body

WHEREAS, Section 10.34, City of Madison General Ordinances, requires the City Engineer to maintain records, including maps and databases, of the street address numbers and street names; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Common Council adopted Resolution RES-24-00122, File ID 81590 on March 5, 2024 approving the “Madison Engineering Division - Street Naming Policy for New Streets” and the revised “Policy for Street Name Changes”; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis Tiziani, President of Cherokee Park, Inc., filed a petition on March 19, 2024 with the City of Madison Engineering Division on behalf of TPC Wisconsin requesting to change the name of Cherokee Club Lane to Players Drive beginning at the intersection with N. Sherman Avenue and progressing westerly to its terminus with the southern end of Perfect Drive. A copy of the said petition signed by all adjacent owners and is attached hereto and made part of this resolution; and

 

WHEREAS, the plat of The Turn was conditionally approved by the City of Madison Common Council by Enactment Number RES-16-00184, File I.D. Number 41145, as adopted on the 1st of March, 2016. Said  Enactment provided for the naming of Cherokee Club Lane as shown on the plat document; and

 

WHEREAS, the plat of The Turn was subsequently recorded upon the satisfaction of the conditions of approval on the 19th of May, 2016 in Volume 60-055A of Plats on pages 287-288, as Document Number 5235740, Dane County Register of Deeds; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Common Council adopted Enactment Number RES-17-00002, File I.D. Number 45278, as adopted on the 6th of January, 2017. Said Enactment provided for the renaming  of Niblick Drive adjacent and north of Cherokee Club Lane to Perfect Drive; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Engineering Division has circulated the attached petition to other City Agencies and has subsequently determined the petition to be in conformance with the said policy and supports the request to change the name of Cherokee Club Drive to Players Drive.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by approving this resolution, the City of Madison Common Council hereby approves the street name change of Cherokee Club Lane to Players Drive as shown on attached Exhibit A. This name change beginning at the intersection with N. Sherman Avenue and progressing westerly to its terminus with the southern end of Perfect Drive.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, upon approval and adoption of the street name change that the City Assessor’s Office and City Engineer’s Office be permitted to change the Address-Parcel-Owner data in the City’s databases as required to complete this street name change and also to coordinate any associated address changes with Dane County for any adjacent parcels having addresses affected by this street name change. The effective date shall be as determined by the City Engineer’s Office with the issuance of the official address change letters to the affected parcel(s); and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all costs of the street signage necessary in the field as a result of this street name change shall be paid for by TPC Wisconsin as acknowledged by the attached petition.
