Report of the Mayor submitting citizen committee appointments. (introduction 8-2-05; action 9-6-05).
Body
I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments. "Statement of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those citizens required to file.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT COMMISSION
ARTHUR V. ROBINSON, 1401 Lucy La., 53711 (1st A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a two-year term and to an additional two-year term to the position of Low/Moderate Income Representative. Mr. Robinson is a senior financial analyst with Physicians Plus Insurance Corp. He succeeds Royce Hudson who resigned.
CURRENT TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2005.
ADDITIONAL TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2007.
EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION BOARD
JOAN L. ERSHLER, 4048 Cherokee Dr., 53711 (10th A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Day Care Worker. Ms. Ershler is program director at the UW-Madison Waisman Center, working directly with young children with and without special needs, and working with their families.
She succeeds Ellen Grossman who resigned.
TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2008.
EOC EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."
*LINDA A. TAPLIN STATZ, 401 Augusta Dr., Waunakee, 53597 - Ms. Taplin Statz is director of recruitment at UW Hospital and Clinics.
RATIONALE: Ms. Taplin Statz has met the criteria for membership on the committee and has been approved by both the EOC Employment Committee and the EOC. Ariel Ford, Interim EOC Director, feels that the wealth of experience Ms. Taplin Statz has in human resources warrants her appointment.
JOINT SOUTHEAST CAMPUS AREA COMMITTEE
EYAL HALAMISH, 412 Chadbourne, 420 N. Park St., 53706-1899 (8th A.D.) - appointed to the position of UW-ASM Representative. Mr. Halamish is a UW-Madison student. He is involved in several organizations, both on and off campus.
UNLIMITED TERM BY APPOINTING AUTHORITY.

EMY IMHOFF, 2518 Dahle St., 53714 (15th A.D.) - CPRP Executive Director Lucy Chaffin recommends the appointment of Ms. Imhoff to the position of Madison School and Community Recreation Representative succeeding Lynelle Harrison who resigned.
