Body
WHEREAS the 2007 Capital Budget includes an amount of $100,000 for architectural and engineering consultant design services, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this project; and,
 
WHEREAS the total contract compensation for architectural and engineering design services for Mead & Hunt Inc. is $105,000; and,
 
WHEREAS amend and increase the 2007 Capital Budget to $116,000 to provide additional funding for architectural and engineering services associated with Wingra Creek redevelopment at the project site. The additional increase amount is $16,000 and includes unforeseen needed funds for creek stabilization engineering services, soils reports, plan review fees, and storm water management permit fees; and,
 
WHEREAS the scope of this project is for professional architectural and engineering design services for site and building improvements. The project is the development and preparation of site and building designs, plans, specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process, and construction administration for the design and construction of the Traffic Engineering Warehouse Building located at 1212 Sayle Street; and,
 
WHEREAS the project is to demolish the existing deteriorated warehouse storage building complex and construct a replacement facility. The new warehouse storage building shall improve operational efficiency and allow for site and exterior aesthetic improvements. The building shall be non-insulated without heating or cooling. Stabilization of the existing creek bank will be required. Provide a new bike path extension along the creek to connect to the existing John Nolen corridor bike path. Remove equipment, plug pipes, fill voids, and demolish structure at existing previously abandoned sanitary lift station.
 
WHEREAS the construction documents, plans and specifications, shall be divided into two bid packages. One package shall be for demolition of existing buildings and creek stabilization and creek restoration work. The second bid package shall be for building construction and related building site development; and,
 
WHEREAS the project will create a green space and bike trail adjacent to Wingra Creek that is consistent with the neighborhood plan; and,
 
WHEREAS the goal of this building project is to construct a replacement warehouse storage building and approximately $1,200,000 will be required in 2008 to construct the facility; and,
 
WHEREAS Mead & Hunt Inc. located at 6501 Watts Road, has been selected through the "Request for Qualifications" process and "Final Interview" process, and is the final selected candidate in accordance with MGO Section 3.61 of Madison General Ordinances and in accordance with APM No. 3-3 of Administrative Procedure Memorandum; and,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a contract for purchase of services, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, with Mead & Hunt Inc. to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for Traffic Engineering Warehouse Building located on 1212 Sayle Street.
