No funds required; Leonardo Academy, Inc. is donating its services.  The registration, credit ruling and certification fees will be paid by the City, and funds are available in CB28-810423 (Building Improvements).
Title
Authorizing Leonardo Academy, Inc. to provide LEED-CI documentation consulting services for interior improvements at Sequoya Branch Library located on Midvale Boulevard.
Body
WHEREAS, the project is the preparation and coordination of LEED-CI, Commercial Interiors documentation (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for the design and construction of new interior improvements for the Sequoya Branch Library project; and
 
WHEREAS, in support of the "Building a Green Capital City" report and a desire to construct an environmentally beneficial project, the City of Madison is interested in seeking LEED-CI, Commercial Interiors, certification for this project; and
 
WHEREAS, the Leonardo Academy, Inc., located at 1526 Chandler Street, Madison, Wisconsin, has offered to provide LEED Documentation consulting services free of charge to the City of Madison for this project; and
 
WHEREAS, the LEED Documentation services shall be performed by Leonardo Academy, Inc. as principal and shall include the following:
1)  Organize and manage the LEED documentation and certification process;
 
2)  Meet and confer with representatives of the Architect and City to develop final LEED-CI goals for the building;
 
3)  Meet and confer with representatives of the Architect and City to develop strategies, procurement specifications and data collection processes to achieve these goals;
 
4)  Meet and confer with representatives of the Architect and City to prepare LEED documentation;
 
5)  Register the project with USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council). Registration fees shall be paid by the City;
 
6)  Prepare submittals for credit rulings from the USGBC for interpretation of credit language, principles, and implementation strategies. Credit ruling fees required by USGBC shall be paid by the City.
 
7)  Prepare and submit a LEED Certification Application for the project to the USGBC. Include required calculations and documentation for each LEED credit claimed in accordance with the LEED Certification Plan. The Certification fees shall be paid by the City.
 
8)  Prepare responses and submit additional documentation required by comments or questions received from the USGBC after review of the original submission for LEED certification; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison recognizes that Leonardo Academy shall not provide commissioning services for this project, and that other design and construction professionals participating in this project are responsible for actually implementing the LEED-CI actions for this project and for gathering the information needed to support documenting the achievement of the LEED-CI actions implemented in this project; and
 
WHEREAS, Leonardo Academy, Inc. has been selected through the "Energy Committee" recommendations and is the final selected candidate;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council hereby accepts and authorizes Leonardo Academy, Inc. to provide LEED Documentation consulting services for the Sequoya Branch Library project; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to sign any agreements necessary for the consulting services.
