Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes an increase to the existing engineering design services contract for the Madison Municipal Building Renovation project. The resolution seeks to add $152,091 to the existing contract for additional services provided during the construction document phase of the project. This increase will not have an impact on the total project budget. The 2017 Adopted Capital Provide includes $23.0m in GO Borrowing to begin construction on the renovation of the project.

Preamble

The parties, the City of Madison ("City") and Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd. ("Architect" or "Contractor") entered into a contract for the purchase of professional architectural pre-design (programming and preliminary concept) services for the Madison Municipal Building (MMB) and City-County Building (CCB) on July 15, 2014 (RES-14-00545); a contract amendment to study three design and cost scenarios at MMB on January 6, 2015 (RES-15-00027); a contract amendment to complete architectural and engineering services for expedited demolition of the MMB loading dock annex on June 16, 2015 (RES-15-00533); a contract amendment to complete architectural and engineering design services for schematic design for the complete rehabilitation of MMB on June 16, 2015 (RES-15-00520); and a contract amendment to complete the design development, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration process to pursue a full rehabilitation of the MMB on December 1, 2015 (RES-15-00907).  The contract amendment for this resolution is to address extra services incurred during the construction document phase, extra service for a specialty masonry consultant for construction administration, extra service for reworking the original bid documents to reduce scope/costs, and reimbursement for plan approval fees.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are herby authorized to execute an amendment to the current contract between the City of Madison and Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd., in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for the extra work as described above.
