Title

Authorizing an Amendment No. 5 to the contract between the City of Madison and Potter Lawson, Inc., for additional architectural and engineering design services for the City-County Building & Madison Municipal Building Tenant Improvements.  (6th AD)

Body

Whereas, the parties, the City of Madison (“City”) and Potter Lawson, Inc. (“Architect” or “Contractor”) entered into a contract for purchase of architectural and engineering design services for the City-County Building Tenant Improvement Remodels on August 17, 2006, and

 

Whereas, the amendment is the continuation of development and preparation of architectural and engineering design, space planning, plans, space planning, and specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process and construction administration for the design and construction of tenant improvement remodels in the City-County Building (CCB) and the Madison Municipal Building (MMB), and

 

Whereas, provide additional architectural and engineering design services are needed for GR-4, which will be the Police Property Offices.  This work includes additional office space remodeling and additional ceiling replacement, for the additional design fee of $5,945.00, and,

 

Whereas, provide additional architectural and engineering design services for changes in the original scope of work for CCB 4th Floor Comptroller’s Office, which includes designing an additional office for the Payroll Supervisor and building a receptionist counter and storage area.  The additional fee for this design work is $1,615.00, and,

 

Whereas, provide additional architectural and engineering design services are needed for the GR level of the CCB, which includes the addition of a men’s restroom and the remodeling of another restroom to provide ADA accessibility, for the additional design fee of $1,675.00, and,

 

Whereas, professional design services shall include architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical engineering, fire protection, and other disciplines as required, and

 

Whereas, the 2007 Capital Budget includes funding for architectural and engineering consultant design services, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this additional project, and

 

Whereas, the additional services exceed the expenditure authorized in Resolution #RES-06-00639, and exceed the predicted quantity of work described in the existing contract, such that they are “Extra Services” under Sections 10 and 24 and not “Additional Services” under Section VII. of Attachment 1, and

 

Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute an Amendment No. 5 to Contract # 5971 between the City and Potter Lawson, Inc. to authorize the additional work as described above and payment in the amount not to exceed $9,235.00.
