Revenue and expenditures related to these donations will be accounted for in a special revenue fund (SO50).
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the Chief of Police to accept donated funds, services and supplies for the creation of the Madison Police Memorial Garden.
Body
WHEREAS, the Retired Officers Advisory Resource Team (ROAR) has established the Madison Police Memorial Garden fund with the hopes of creating a peaceful garden and brick walk located on the property of the East Police District; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the Police Memorial Garden is to honor those officers who have made the supreme sacrifice in giving their lives in the performance of service to this community; and,
WHEREAS, the Police Memorial Garden shall also pay tribute to officers who have dedicated their careers to serving the public; and,
WHEREAS, individual bricks may be purchased by retired personnel or their families or friends acknowledging their career and engraved with officer's name, rank, and dates of service to the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Contractor Landscape Association has volunteered to assist in this beautification project by utilizing donations and pledges from area contractors and others in terms of products, materials, and labor; and,
WHEREAS, additional donations may be provided in the future to assist with costs associated with upkeep, expansion and/or maintenance of the Police Memorial Garden.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Chief of Police are authorized to accept donations in support of the Memorial Garden project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these funds may be used for supplies, equipment, and/or labor used in constructing this landscaped garden and brick walk.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Comptroller and the Police Department are authorized to establish and/or maintain accounts as required for the administration of this project. (SO50-55510-713100-00-71600000-000000-PMG00000; SO50-78510-713100-00-7160000-000000-PMG000000)
