I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments.  "Statements of Interests" are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those appointees required to file.

 

ALLIED AREA TASK FORCE

 

ENIS T. RAGLAND, Assitant to the Mayor - appoint to the position of Madison Mayoral Designee.  Mr. Ragland succeeds Darrell Bazzell.

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT COMMISSION

 

KRISTINA L. DUX,  2901 Cimarron Trail, 53719 (7th A.D.) - reappoint to a two-year term to the position of Low/Moderate Income Representative.  First Appointed 7-5-2005.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2008.

 

SOPHIA ANGELINA ESTANTE, 414 Chamberlain Ave., 53726 (5th A.D.) -reappoint to a two-year term to the position of Low/Moderate Income Representative.  First Appointed 9-2-2003.

STEWARD, 2347 Allied Dr. #104, 53711-4568 (10th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Steward is a web marketeer for Youth Services of Southern Wisconsin.  He is active in several community organizations.  He succeeds Alberto Poliarco who resigned.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-21-2009.

 

CHARLES HOLMES-HOPE, 525 W. Doty St., 53703 (4th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Holmes-Hope is a student affairs practitioner for the UW-Madison.  He is currently the assistant director of the UW-Madison Multicultural Center.  He succeeds Ann Smith who resigned.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-15-2008.

 

INCLUSIONARY ZONING ADVISORY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

 

BRIAN A. MUNSON, 2122 Regent St., 53726 (5th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Periphery Developer.  Mr. Munson is an urban designer for Vandewalle & Associates.  He succeeds David Simon.

 

PLATINUM BIKING CITY PLANNING COMMITTEE

 

 *2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

SUSAN M. SCHMITZ, 210 Marinette Trail, 53705 (11th A.D.) - Ms. Schmitz is president of Downtown Madison, Inc.

JAY B. FERM, 1201 Hickory St., 53715-2125 (13th A.D.) - Mr. Ferm is advocacy coordinator for Planet Bike.

 

*F. JAVIER NIETO, 3133 Oxford Rd., Shorewood Hills, 53705-2223 - Mr. Nieto is a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Rationale: Professor Nieto has public health and preventative medicine expertise.  He is an epidemiologist who teaches and does research at the University. Professor Nieto moved here primarily because of the bicycle friendliness of the community.
