Title

Amending the 2026 Streets Division and Parks Division Capital Budgets and Awarding Public Works Contract No. 9782, South Point Public Works Facility. (District 1)

Body

WHEREAS in addition to the new South Point Public Works Facility the base bid includes remodeling plans and specifications of the existing warm storage building for Parks Division West Maintenance currently located at the Summit Facility; and,

 

WHEREAS by relocating the West Parks Maintenance Team to South Point the Summit Facility will provide workspace for other City Conservation Teams; and,

 

WHEREAS the base bid plans and specifications were approved for the facility to be constructed PV Solar ready; and,

 

WHEREAS after careful consideration City Staff recommends not proceeding with Alternate Bid Item #2-PV Solar and Alternate Bid Item #3-Automated Wash Bay; and,

 

WHEREAS Engineering Facility Management has funding allocated in the 2028 Capital Energy Improvement Budget for PV solar sufficient to meet the current facility as designed; and,

 

WHEREAS the PV Solar is planned to be completed by the Green Power Team in 2028/2029; and,

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2026 Streets Division and Parks Division Capital Budgets be amended to transfer $250,000 of GO Borrowing budget from the Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation program (Munis #17148) and $250,000 of GO Borrowing budget from the Beach and Shoreline Improvements program (Munis #10605) to the South Point Public Works Facility project (Munis #13016); and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following low bids for miscellaneous improvements be accepted and that the Mayor and City Clerk be and are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with the low bidder and proceed with a contract for work identified as part of the Base Bid and alternate Bid Item #1-Salt Barn, subject to the Contractor's compliance with Section 39.02 of the Madison General Ordinances concerning compliance with the Affirmative Action provisions and subject to the Contractor's compliance with Section 33.07 of the Madison General Ordinances regarding Best Value Contracting.

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the funds be encumbered to cover the cost of the projects contained herein.
