Title

AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF COUNTY AND CITY HEALTH OFFICIALS (NACCHO) FOR FLEXIBLE LOCAL EPIDEMIOLOGY FOR X-FACTOR EMERGING DISEASES (FLEXED) GRANT

Body

Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of $20,000.00 from National Organization of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to participate in the Flexible Local Epidemiology for X-Factor Emerging Diseases cohort hosted by NACCHO.

NACCHO will provide funding to PHMDC to support Peer Ambassadors (PHMDC’s Communicable Disease Epidemiologist and Emergency Preparedness Epidemiologist) participating in the FLEXED Learning Community. The goal of this project is to strengthen the capacity of local health departments to respond to emerging and ongoing infectious disease threats. Specifically, selected Peer Ambassadors will advance this goal by:

•Informing learning opportunities for the broader FLEXED Learning Community

Engaging with subject matter experts to identify strengths, gaps, and questions that can inform future resources or technical assistance

Developing a learning plan that will identify priority topics to build flexible and response-ready infectious disease epidemiology capacity

Demonstrating leadership skills by actively engaging with peers in the Virtual Community to foster shared learning

Funds will be used to support staff time, conference attendance, and subscriptions to learning resources (ProMed and Coursera) relevant to emerging diseases.
