I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments.  "Statement of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those citizens required to file.

 

GARVER FEED MILL RFP AND SURPLUS PROPERTY COMMITTEE

 

MARK H. MCFADDEN, 513 Elmside Blvd., 53704-5707 (6th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Mayor's Appointee.  Mr. McFadden is a telecommunications consultant with Internet Policy Advisors, LLC.  He has been very active locally in development and neighborhood work.  He is a member of the Olbrich Botanical Society Board of Directors.

 

LOU HOST-JABLONSKI, 30 Lansing St., 53714 (15th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Neighborhood Representative.

WILLIAM W. BARKER, 830 Terry Pl., 53711-1957 (10th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Park Commission Member.

DENNIS P. BIRKE, 6 East Newhaven Cir., 53717 (9th A.D.) -  appoint to the position of Olbrich Botanical Society Member.  Mr. Birke is an attorney with DeWitt Ross and Stevens S.C.  He currently serves as President of the Olbrich Botanical Society (OBS) and has been on the OBS Board of Directors since 1992.

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

* MARK M. OPITZ, 6753 Black Cherry La., Middleton, WI 53562 - appoint to the position of Contracted Services Oversight Committee Member.  Mr. Opitz is a city planner for the City of Middleton.                       

 

                     Currently serving on:                     Contracted Services Oversight Committee (City of Middleton Representative.)

 

Rationale:  The City of Middleton is one of the key cities that contract with the City of Madison to provide Metro transit service.
