Commending and Recognizing Gregory “Greg” Genin, Parks Operations Manager with the City of Madison Parks Division, upon his retirement after over 5 years of dedicated service to the City of Madison Parks Division.

WHEREAS, in October 2108, Greg began working for the City of Madison as the Parks Operations Manager; and,
WHEREAS, Greg brought his skills, leadership, and passion for serving others with him from his previous career in the private sector; and,
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Greg worked diligently to support the needs of the Parks Division, identifying areas of improvement and training staff to do the same, focusing on the needs of our residents and establishing high customer service standards; and,
WHEREAS, Greg focused on the future, supporting changes that positioned Madison Parks to be a leader in park operations, sustainability, and conservation; and,
WHEREAS, Greg’s ability to support staff development, in both technical and leadership arenas, strengthened the operations team’s cohesiveness and effectiveness; and,
WHEREAS, Greg consistently thought of “the big picture,” and therefore worked to break down silos within the Parks Division and with other City Agencies; and,
WHEREAS, Greg’s demonstrated care and passion for others will be greatly missed; and,
WHEREAS, Greg was instrumental in many significant changes to the park operations processes over the years, including reorganizing the staff structure to build an Ecology Team with a clear mission to support the integration of more sustainable land management practices throughout the park system; and,
WHEREAS, Greg has been an exemplary public servant who always worked to provide the best possible Parks system to the Madison community; and,
WHEREAS, Greg’s last day in the office with Madison Parks was January 5, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, Greg shall retire from Madison Parks in April 2024; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Park Commissioners and Parks Superintendent commend Greg Genin, Parks Operations Manager, on his retirement from the City of Madison after 5 years of exemplary City service; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Park Commissioners and Parks Superintendent express deepest gratitude to Greg for his dedicated service to the City of Madison, its residents and partners, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and,
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Board of Park Commissioners, Parks Superintendent, and the entire Parks Division wish Greg a healthy and enjoyable retirement full of new and exciting adventures with his family and friends.
