Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the construction of the Mineral Point Rd & High Point Rd intersection. The project will start the design phase in 2023 and construction is planned for 2025. The total estimated project cost is $855,771 of which $94,577 ($10,000 in 2023 for WisDOT review costs and $84,577 in 2025 for construction costs) is the City share. The State will administer the construction contract and will bill the City for its share of the project.
Funds for the City’s 2023 share ($10,000) are included in the 2023 Executive Capital Budget for Traffic Engineering -Safe Streets Madison Program. Funds for the 2025 share ($84,577) will be included in the 2025 Traffic Engineering budget request. No additional appropriation is expected.

WHEREAS, The city of Madison Traffic Engineering is proposing improvements to the Mineral Point Rd & High Point Rd intersection. The improvements include reconstruction of the eastbound left-turn bay to provide a positive left-turn offset, replacing the current signal head configuration with over-the-lane signal heads, new ADA compliant pedestrian curb ramps in the northwest, southwest, and southeast quadrants and high visibility crosswalks; and,
WHEREAS, The project was awarded a grant under WisDOTs Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) that will reimburse 90% of the participating design and construction costs.
WHEREAS, The proposed project is planned to be designed in 2023 and to be constructed in 2025,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the design and construction of safety improvements at Mineral Point Rd & High Point Rd intersection, through Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Project WISDOT ID 5992-07-22/23.
