Report of the Mayor submitting resident committee appointments (introduction 2/5/2019; action 2/26/2019).

I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."

 

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

 

Community Development Block Grant Committee recommendation:

KEETRA S. BURNETTE (20th A.D.) - reappoint to the position of Community Development Block Grant Committee Member.

BEN M. VAN PELT (4th A.D.) - reappoint to the position of Community Development Block Grant Committee Member.

Community Services Committee recommendation:

LASHANA M. MILLER (15th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Community Services Committee Member succeeding Kim R. Genich.

MADISON FOOD POLICY COUNCIL

 

ALLISON M. DOPF (12th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Health Care Provider Representative. Ms. Dopf is a registered nurse currently working in primary care at Group Health Cooperative-South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW). She serves on GHC-SCW’s Health Equity Committee and Clinical Policy Development Committee. Ms. Dopf succeeds Elisabeth C. Reynolds.

MADISON'S CENTRAL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (BID) BOARD

 

Note: Per the Business Improvement District [BID] Operating Plan as approved by the Common Council, “Wisconsin Statutes section 66.1109(3 (a) requires that the Board be composed of at least five members and that a majority of the Board members shall either own or occupy real property in the District.  If the actual property or business owner is an entity, that entity shall designate a representative to act on its behalf.”

 

STACEY M. SCANNELL (1st A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of State Street Area - Business Owner. First appointed 1-17-2017.

KEN MONTELEONE (13th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Capitol Square - Business Owner. First appointed 3-29-2016.

DANIEL J. KENNELLY (13th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City of Madison Representative. First appointed 2-27-2018.

*CRAIG BARTLETT, Fitchburg - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of At Large Central Downtown Representative. First appointed 3-29-2016.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2022

 

Rationale: Mr. Bartlett is the co-owner/Associate Publisher of Madison’s weekly independent newspaper - The Isthmus. The Isthmus offices are located on State Street. As a downtown business owner and member of the media, Mr. Bartlett offers a wide variety of contacts and expertise for the BID Board. Additionally, Mr. Bartlett is the third generation in his family to own a business in downtown Madison, offering a great historical perspective.
