VICTORIA S. SELKOWE, 2961 Union St., 53704 (15th A.D.) - reappoint to a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  First Appointed 7-20-2004.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION BOARD
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
 
Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."
 
*LYNN E. EDLEFSON, 3305 Valley Creek Cir., Middleton 53562 - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Specialist in Child Care Field.  Ms. Edlefson is employed by the UW Madison Office of Child Care and Family Resources as a social worker/director of the deparment and has worked there for 11 years.  She has 20+ years of clinical experience with children and families and was the CEO of a private child abuse and neglect agency in Kansas City, Missouri.  She succeeds Andrea Dearlove who resigned.
TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2011.
 
Rationale: Ms. Edlefson's efforts to ensure access to quality child care for families of all income levels extends beyond her work with the University. In 2005 she partnered with the Office of Community Services in developing a proposal for a child care center in Allied Drive and remains committed to the concept and partnership between the City and University. Ms. Edlefson works in Madison, does business in Madison, and the primary effort of her work with colleagues in the child care field is in Madison, as are the majority of clients that are served by her office.
 
BEV A. WILLER, 2 Yellowstone Ct., 53705 (19th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Day Care Service Consumer.  Ms. Willer is Director of Administrative Services for the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association (WPHCA).  She is a biological mother, adoptive mother (two special needs children) and has primary responsibility for her grandson.  She has also been a foster mom.  She succeeds Joanne Brown who resigned was moved/appointed to a Citizen position.

JOANNA R. PARKER, 534 Aztalan Dr., 53718 (3rd A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Day Care Worker.  Ms. Parker is Executive Director of The Learning Gardens Child Care Center.  She has been active in many child care organizations.  She succeeds Joan Ershler who resigned.
