I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances,  “…provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgment of the Mayor and two-thirds (⅔) of the Common Council, the best interests of the City will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment.”

 

 

BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS

 

CHANDRA MILLER FIENEN (6th A.D.) - reappoint to a five-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 2-23-2021.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC RESOURCES COMMITTEE

MELISSA GOMBAR (11th A.D.) - appointed to the position of Mayor or Designee. Melissa Gombar is a non-profit director with Elevate - an organization that focuses on ensuring people have access to clean and affordable heat, power and water. She was a member of the City’s Economic Development Committee.

*WAYNE HARRIS, Waunakee - appoint to a one-year term to the position of Resident Member.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2027

 

Rationale: Mr. Harris is the owner/president of 6AM Marketing. He has owned several small businesses throughout his decades-long career, including several located within the City of Madison. In addition, he has served on several boards including the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the City’s Economic Development Committee.

 

SUSAN M. BULGRIN (10th A.D.) - appoint to a one-year term to the position of Resident Member. Susan Bulgrin is the owner of Bulgrin, Inc. and Mojo Foods. She has extensive business experience and served on the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Advisory Committee. She was a member of the City’s Economic Development Committee as well as the Zoning Board of Appeals.

*SETH W. LENTZ, Janesville - appoint to a two-year term to the position of Resident Member.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2028

 

Rationale: Mr. Lentz is the Executive Director/CEO of the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin (WDBSCW). The WDBSCW is a private, not-for profit organization charged with providing strategic & operational oversight to the workforce system in the six-county (Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Marquette, Sauk) south central region. Mr. Lentz was a member of the City’s Economic Development Committee.

 

JEFFREY J. LIGGON (5th A.D.) - appoint to a two-year term to the position of Resident Member. Jeffrey Liggon is the owner/operator of Fitness Center (DBA The Fit). He has participated in the Associates of Commercial Real Estate (A.C.R.E) program. He has also served on the United Way Health Community Solutions Team and the City’s Economic Development Committee.

ASHLEIGH M. HACKER (17th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Resident Member. Ashleigh Hacker is an attorney with Boardman & Clark LLP and a Family Law Assistance Clinic volunteer. She served as vice-chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin Legal Assistance Committee. She was chair of the City’s Vending Oversight Committee.

JASMINE C. BANKS (6th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 3-21-2023.

MONONA TERRACE COMMUNITY AND CONVENTION CENTER BOARD

 

AURELIANO MONTES (20th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City Appointee. First appointed 4-21-2020.

TERM EXPIRES: 5-1-2029

 

STEVEN M. PETERS (1st A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City Appointee. First appointed 9-20-2022.

TERM EXPIRES: 5-1-2029
