Authorization to Enter into an Agreement to Accept Grant Funds with Vaccinate Your Family for the Community-Based Vaccination Clinics for Dane County Families Project and Amend the 2026 Public Health Budget (2026 BOH RES-039)

WHEREAS, Public Health has been awarded $8,000.00 from Vaccinate Your Family for the Community-Based Vaccination Clinics for Dane County Families Project for the period of October 1, 2026 through May 1, 2027, and seeks authorization to enter into an agreement to accept and administer the award; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will support community-based vaccination initiatives designed to improve access to recommended and school-required vaccinations through services provided in schools, WIC settings, and other trusted community locations, with a focus on children and families facing barriers to care, and expand Public Health's capacity to provide influenza, COVID-19, and other vaccination clinics in response to demonstrated community need; and
WHEREAS, the grant term extends beyond the 2026 fiscal year and continues into 2027; and
WHEREAS, the grant award was not included in the adopted 2026 Public Health Budget because the funding notification was received after budget development and approval, or because the grant term spans multiple fiscal years; and
WHEREAS, Public Health seeks authorization to execute the grant agreement and all related documents necessary to implement the project and expend the funds in accordance with the grant requirements; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health Madison & Dane County, hereby authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to apply for, enter into, and execute an agreement with Vaccinate Your Family, to accept and expend grant funds in the amount of $8,000.00 for the Community-Based Vaccination Clinics for Dane County Families Project, and to execute any related documents necessary to administer the award; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 2026 Public Health Operating Budget is hereby amended to recognize the grant revenue and associated expenditures anticipated during fiscal year 2026, and that Public Health budget and finance staff, in coordination with program staff, are authorized to complete all budgetary, fiscal, accounting, and administrative actions necessary to appropriate and expend such funds in accordance with the terms of the award; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that any portion of the grant award attributable to activities occurring in 2027 shall be incorporated into future budget actions and appropriations, as necessary, in accordance with Public Health, City, and County budget procedures.
