The Façade Grant program is funded through the Capital Revolving Fund. The Adopted 2016 budget includes $125,000 for this program.

Approving a Facade Improvement Grant to Atwood Avenue Property Group, LLC; located at 1965 Atwood Ave.
Body
On October 3, 2000, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID # 61179, approving the Facade Improvement Grant Program to support and encourage small local businesses to reinvest in the downtown and smaller, neighborhood shopping and business areas and designating the Community Development Authority as the agent of the City for the operation and administration of the Program. The grants are matching grants and will be provided in an amount up to 50% of the total project costs up to a maximum of $10,000 for a single facade, $20,000 for a building with two facades, and $25,000 for a “flatiron” building. The objective of the Program is to restore, beautify, or enhance the entire facade or elevation of a commercial building. The Facade Improvement Grant Program Staff Team has reviewed the following Façade Improvement proposals and determined that it meets the requirements of the Program. The Urban Design Commission has reviewed the proposals and recommends design approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council does hereby approve the following Facade Improvement Grant proposal:
Grantee: Atwood Avenue Property Group, LLC
The scope of the exterior work to 1965 Atwood Ave will include:
a. Construct new entryway by expanding existing door and window openings. Re-use salvaged brick to fill in around new header.
b. Install anodized aluminum storefront system with salvaged and matching cast stone sill and banding.
c. Install steel canopies with down lighting over two existing coiling door enclosures and the new entry.
d. Replace existing plywood infill panel with insulated glass panel in the opening to the west of the new entrance.
Total project cost is estimated at $67,300. Façade Improvement Grant not to exceed $10,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be and hereby are authorized to execute grant agreements with the grantees and any other documents necessary to complete these improvements.
