Amending Section 8.24(1)(b) of the Madison General Ordinances to regulate alcohol beverage control at Breese Stevens Field.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance amends the alcohol beverage controls at Breese Stevens Field to allow alcohol sale, possession or consumption within the confines of the walled and gated stadium itself, although such sale, possession and consumption would remain subject to State law, the permitting and licensing provisions of Chapter 38, and other City requirements. Alcohol sale, possession and consumption will be prohibited outside of the stadium. This amendment eliminates the requirement that any such request be first approved by the Common Council, which will make it easier and more efficient for community groups or interests to use the facilities and provide their invitees with opportunities for alcohol sales and consumption.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subdivision (b) of Subsection (1) entitled "Prohibition" of Section 8.24 entitled "Alcohol Beverage Control and Container Control on Certain Public Property" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"(b) Breese Stevens Field, except that alcohol beverages may be sold, possessed or consumed therein with the prior approval of the Common Council within the walled and gated portions thereof;"
