I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen committee appointments.  "Statements of Interests" are on file in the City Clerks' office for those appointees required to file.

 

ADA TRANSIT SUBCOMMITTEE TO THE TRANSIT AND PARKING COMMISSION

 

MICHAEL A. HUCKABY, 2041 Helena St., 53704 (6th A.D.) - appoint to a two-year term to the position of Ambulatory Disabled Fixed Route User.  Mr. Huckaby is actively involved in the betterment of public transportation and issues regarding ADA.  He currently serves as the President of the Dane County Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Wisconsin.  He succeeds Sylvia Roberts.

TERM EXPIRES: 9-19-2008.

 

CDA HOUSING OPERATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE

For Information Only.  The CDA Chair recommends the following reappointments:

CDA LONG RANGE PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

*KARYN B. KNAACK, 3228 Patty La., Middleton, 53562 - appoint to the position of Member with Finance Experience.  Ms. Knaack is a vice president of US Bank.

 

RATIONALE:  Ms. Knaack has worked in the affordable housing industry since 1994, spending 8 years at WHEDA as a multi-family development officer and asset manager.  She has spent the last 4 years at US Bank as a CRE lender specializing in affordable housing.

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT COMMISSION

 

MONYA  A. CHOUDHURY, 902 Jenifer St. #3, 53703 (6th A.D.) - appoint to a two-year term to the position of Minority Representative.  Ms. Choudhury has professional experience writing and reviewing government grant proposals.  She is dedicated to the city's planned growth and revitalization process.  She succeeds Richard Brown, Sr.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2008.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION

 

LINA TRIVEDI, 2347 Allied Dr. #104, 53711 (10th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Minority Representative.  Ms. Trivedi is an employment specialist with the Urban League of Greater Madison.  She offers support to the Allied Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood Association, Joining Forces for Families, Community Action Coalition, School for Life, and various Urban League initiatives.  She succeeds Tracey Caradine.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2007.

 

CELIA JACKSON, 601 Glenway St., 53711 - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term and to an additional three-year term to the position of Community Representative.  Ms. Jackson is Secretary of the State Department of Regulation and Licensing.  She succeeds Rebecca Menghini who resigned.

* BRUCE K. SYLVESTER, 2116 11th St., Monroe, WI 53566 - appoint to a two-year term to the position of City of Verona Representative.  Mr. Sylvester is a city planner for the City of Verona.

INCLUSIONARY ZONING ADVISORY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

 

NATALIE L. BOCK, 822 Hiawatha Dr., 53711 (10th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Downtown Developer.  Ms. Bock is in real estate development for the Alexander Company.  She has 12 years experience financing and developing affordable housing and 20 years of experience in real estate finance.  She is currently working on the development of Capitol West in downtown Madison.

ROB KENNEDY, 511 S. Baldwin St., 53703 (6th A.D.) - appoint to the position of UW-Madison Transportation Committee representative.  He succeeds Renee Callaway.

LONG RANGE METRO TRANSIT PLANNING AD HOC COMMITTEE

 

JULIE A. AULIK, 4034 Mandan Cir., 53711 (10th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Representative of the University of Wisconsin.  Ms. Aulik is community relations director at UW Hospital and Clinics.  Her background includes policy, economic development, planning and land use.  She represents one of the area's largest employers.  She is active in many civic and health organizations.

 

SATYA V. RHODES CONWAY, 2642 Hoard St., 53704-4870 (12th A.D.) - appoint to the position of At-large Member.  Ms. Rhodes Conway is a senior associate for the Center on Wisconsin Strategy. She has an extensive background in environmental and energy issues from both a scientific and policy perspective. She is active in several civic organizations.

 

PARKING COUNCIL FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

TPC recommendation:

 

DUANE F. HINZ, 18 Starr Ct., 53711 (1st A.D.) - move from the position of CPD or Citizen Member (serving as Citizen Member) and appoint to the position of Transit and Parking Commission Member or Citizen. He succeeds Carl DuRocher.

COLLEEN M. HAYES, 530 Clemons Ave., 53704 (6th A.D.) - Ms. Hayes is a substitute teacher for the Madison Metropolitan School District. Bicycling is her primary source of transportation.  She is a volunteer for the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin.  She is an advocate for bike safety for all.

 

MARY K. ROUSE, 1934 Rowley Ave., 53726 (10th A.D.) - Ms. Rouse is former Dean of Students at the UW-Madison.  She is a bicycle commuter.  She is a former board member of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and current volunteer for the BFW.

 

M. KATHERINE SCHRAMM, 2412 LaFollette Ave., 53704-5410 (6th A.D.) - Ms. Schramm is president of Two Bicycles and a Map, Ltd.  She produces bike touring events in Wisconsin and abroad.

 

MICHAEL W. REWEY, 5522 Comanche Way, 53704-1026 (18th A.D.) - Mr. Rewey is a planner and a biker.

PAUL E. BUCKALEW, 28 Heritage Cir. #2, 53711 (10th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Buckalew is a retired teacher.  He is the president of the Madison Area Retired Educators and is actively involved in many organizations.  He succeeds James Marshall.

SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

EVELYN D. BURNS, 540 W. Olin Ave. #272, 53715-2510 (13th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Ms. Burns has experience working with several neighborhood associations and with the foster grandparent program (RSVP).  She succeeds Clara Franklin.

LAKSHMI SRIDHARAN, 326 Cheyenne Trail, 53705-4703 (11th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Ms. Sridharan is retired from the State Department of Natural Resources as a senior manager.  She has a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the UW-Madison and has worked in the environmental field for 30+ years.

She succeeds Michael Wood.
