I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments.  "Statements of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those appointees required to file.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW BOARD

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

2/3 vote required:

*GODWIN A. AMEGASHIE, 2519 Richardson St., Fitchburg - reappoint to a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  First Appointed 5-21-2002.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2008.

 

                     Currently serving on:                     Madison Development Corporation

 

Rationale:  Mr. Amegashie brings a wealth of knowledge and information from the perspective of people of color.  He has valuable experience as a former executive at a major private sector financial institution.

 

BID BOARD

*MARINUS (RICK) J.W. PETRI, 5134 Reynolds Ave., Waunakee, 53597 - reappoint to the position of DMI Representative.  First Appointed: 9-16-2003.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2010.

 

Rationale: Mr. Petri is the designee of Downtown Madison, Inc.  He formerly served as assistant City Attorney to the City of Madison and has worked in downtown Madison throughout his career.

*JOHN B. HUTCHINSON, 3780 Hwy. 19, Sun Prairie, 53590 - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of State Street Area Property/Business Representative.  Mr. Hutchinson is President of Fontana Sports, 251 State Street.  He succeeds Trudy Barash.

TERM EXPIRES:  1-18-2008.

 

Rationale: Mr. Hutchinson is a long-time, respected State Street area business owner who will contribute greatly to the BID.  His appointment is supported by the members of the BID Board.

 

JESSICA A. PAVLIC, 116 S. Randall Ave., 53715 (13th A.D.) - appoint to the position of UW Student ASM Representative.  Ms. Pavlic is a full-time student and is active in ASM subcommittees.  She succeeds John Weyers.

MARIO MENDOZA, Aide to Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, 210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Room 403, 53703 - reappoint to the position of City of Madison Representative.  First Appointed 2-21-2006.

TRACI A. MILLER, 423 N. Baldwin St., 53703 (2nd A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the newly created position of At-large Central Downtown Representative.  Ms. Miller is co-proprietor of L'Etoile Restaurant, 25 N. Pinckney Street.
