I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, “…provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgment of the Mayor and two-thirds (⅔) of the Common Council, the best interests of the City will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment.”
BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS
JOVAN CHAVEZ (3rd A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Moira Harrington. Jovan Chavez is the volunteer coordinator and market manager for Centro Hispano Dane County. He is an avid soccer player and was formerly the Latino outreach manager and sales manager for Big Top and Forward Madison FC. He has volunteered with numerous organizations such as United Way of Dane County and the Habitat for Humanity.

MADISON DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
SCOTT J. RESNICK (5th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Mayoral Designee. First appointed 10-15-2019.

EDWARD G. LEE (17th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Employment and Training Representative. First appointed 10-17-2023.

MADISON PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
Madison Metropolitan School District recommendation:
BRENDAN J. FAHERTY (11th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of School Superintendent or Representative succeeding Lisa Hempstead. Brendan Faherty is a library media technology specialist with the Madison Metropolitan School District, currently working at Olson Elementary School. He previously worked at the South Central Library System.

MADISON’S CENTRAL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (BID) BOARD
Note: Per the Business Improvement District [BID] Operating Plan as approved by the Common Council, “Wisconsin Statutes section 66.1109(3) (a) requires that the Board be composed of at least five members and that a majority of the Board members shall either own or occupy real property in the District. If the actual property or business owner is an entity, that entity shall designate a representative to act on its behalf.”
*JASON LEE, Verona - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of State Street Area - Business Owner succeeding Josey Chu.
TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2029
Rationale: Jason Lee is a co-owner of Okashi, a popular Japanese candy and retail store located at 542 State Street. He was born and raised in Madison, including attending school at UW Madison and is the son of a former State St. shop owner. Jason Lee also serves as the new vice president for the Greater State Street Business Association and is an active member of the small business community.
UW-Associated Students of Madison recommendation:
KAYLIN XU (14th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of University of Wisconsin-Madison Student succeeding Akash Goda. Kaylin Xu is currently working on her Ph.D. in Chemistry and is a graduate research assistant. She has been active in student advocacy since high school, including serving on Princeton’s Student Advisory Board.
