This resolution amends the 2006 Public Health Operating Budget by increasing offsetting revenues and expenses by $7,056. No appropriation is required.  There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.

                                                  Preamble:
 
On May 5, 2006, Common Council approved a resolution enabling the City of Madison Department of Public Health to accept a grant of $38,453 from the Southcentral Wisconsin Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Consortium (#10). At their June 16, 2006, the Directors of the Consortium revised this to include an additional $7,056, for a total grant of $45,509.
 
As fiscal agent for the Consortium, Dane County has submitted an Intergovernmental Agreement requiring that these grant funds be spent on emergency preparedness planning and activities.
 
 
WHEREAS the City of Madison Department of Public is one of the health departments in the Southcentral Wisconsin Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Consortium (#10),
 
WHEREAS the City of Madison Department of Public Health has received funds from the Consortium for emergency preparedness for the past three years,
 
WHEREAS the Consortium has unspent funds from their 2005 operating budget that it is distributing to each of the health departments in the Consortium and the City of Madison Department of Public Health has already received a grant of $38,453 from the Consortium,
 
WHEREAS the Consortium will make an additional grant of $7,056,
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the 2006 Public Health Operating Budget is amended by the following amounts:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign an Intergovernmental Agreement with Dane County, the fiscal agent for the Southcentral Wisconsin Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Consortium (#10) that will include both the $38,453 previously authorized by the Common Council and the acceptance of this additional grant of $7,056 to be used for emergency preparedness planning and activities, with all funds to be expended by December 31, 2006.
