Body
WHEREAS, the members of the Headquarters Company, S3 (Operations), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army have shown unwavering dedication and performance in the line of duty against the Global War on Terror during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad, Iraq; and
 
WHEREAS, great personal sacrifices have been made by the members of the Headquarters Company S3 (Operations), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, and their families during the 15 months of their overseas deployment; and
 
WHEREAS, more than 100 soldiers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division have made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives; and
 
WHEREAS, great loss has been suffered by the families and friends of those who have perished or have been injured, all so that every citizen across this great country of the United States of America can continue to enjoy the freedoms we hold so dear, and that our forefathers have fought to preserve since the birth of this great nation; and
 
WHEREAS, citizens of Madison, Wisconsin and surrounding communities have come together as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Operations Support Group to sustain the morale of the Headquarters Company, S3 (Operations), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division; and
 
WHEREAS, the members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Operations Support Group has requested honorary City of Madison citizenship for each member of the Headquarters Company, S3 (Operations), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, with all rights and benefits that come with that privilege;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison recognize the unselfish contributions made by these individuals and grant honorary citizenship to SPC Jose Amaya, CPT Elizabeth Bonner, CPT Kevin Bukowski, MSG Moses Burrell, SSG Johnny Caldwell, CPT Jason Campbell, SPC Jacob Carlson, SGT Joel Casteneda, Jr., MAJ Henry Delacruz, SPC Douglas Hale, SPC Robert Johnson, SPC Charles Jones, SPC Daniel Keenan, SGT Travis Knudsen, SGM David Martel, SFC Darren Martin, MAJ John S.
